MDHHS Extends Epidemic Order 12 Days

(LANSING) – As expected, Michigan's epidemic order has been extended.

During a Monday afternoon media briefing, Governor Gretchen
Whitmer announced the extension of the epidemic order for 12 days to December 20. Whitmer says one of the reasons the order is being extended is to not overwhelm Michigan hospitals. ...... {LISTEN}.

The order will keep existing measures in place through at least December 20. Individuals should continue to wear masks consistently when they are inside and with people who are not in their household. Bars and restaurants must remain closed for dine in service, but can offer outdoor dining, carry out and delivery. High schools, colleges and universities will continue with remote learning, with no in person classes.

Whitmer says while there are early signs of progress in case rates and hospitalizations, those rates are still alarmingly high.
