No Contest Plea Entered In Fatal Truck v Buggy Crash
By: Mike Stiles - Tuesday, May 11, 2021

(COLDWATER) – A plea has been entered in the case of a northern Indiana man whose vehicle struck an Amish buggy and killed three children.

Branch County Circuit Court personnel say 23 year old Tyler Frye of Angola entered a plea of no contest Tuesday to a charge of operating while intoxicated causing death. In exchange for the plea, all other charges against Frye will be dismissed by Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien.

Frye was arrested by Michigan State Police on June 7, 2019 following a crash in Branch County's Algansee Township. Troopers say Frye was driving south on Kelly Road at 6 PM when his pick up rear ended an Amish buggy, ejecting two adults and five children. Three of the children, 6 year old Lillian Graber, 4 year old Moses Graber and 2 year old Jacob Graber, all of Fremont, Indiana, died from their injuries.

The children's mother and other child received serious injuries in the incident. The mother was pregnant and lost her unborn baby.

With the plea agreement, Frye could face between 42 months and 15 years in prison when he is sentenced. A date for the sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
