(MIDLAND) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced an easing of COVID-19 restrictions for Michigan.

Speaking Thursday in Midland, Whitmer says the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is planning to lift outdoor capacity limits on June 1. Indoor capacity will continue at 50 percent throughout the month of June.

Whitmer says by the start of July, Michigan’s mask order is expected to be lifted by health officials.

In addition, starting next Monday, May 24, anyone who has been working remotely is going to be allowed to resume in person employment at all Michigan businesses.

As of Wednesday, 56.8 percent of Michigan residents 16 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
