(UNDATED) – The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office is investigating a four vehicle hit and run accident.

Deputies say 70 year old Shirley Conley of Middlebury was stopped in traffic in the southbound left turn lane of County Road 17 just north of State Road 120 at 3:35 PM Friday. She was rear ended by an SUV, which caused Conley's vehicle to strike a vehicle driven by 66 year old Beatrice Howie of Union, Michigan. Howie's automobile then rear ended a car driven by 29 year old Nathan Winemiller of Warsaw.

The first vehicle fled the scene.

Conley complained of back pain but refused medical treatment. Howie and Winemiller were not injured.

If anyone has information on the first vehicle, they are asked to call the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.
