Sturgis Hosts Memorial Day Ceremony

(STURGIS) – After being canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19, the City of Sturgis held a Memorial Day Service on Monday.

The event was held in Oaklawn Park, with Sturgis Vice Mayor Jeff Mullins offering comments about what Memorial Day is about. ...... {LISTEN}.

State Representative Steve Carra was the keynote speaker. He shared that the men and women who gave their lives should never be forgotten and always respected. ...... {LISTEN}.

The Sturgis V.F.W., along with the Sturgis American Legion also participated in the ceremony, presenting the American Flag, along with the Roll Call of the Wars and the Roll Call of the Dead. The Sturgis Girls Scouts and the Sturgis Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts laid wreaths during the Roll Call of the Wars and presented flowers for the veterans buried in Oaklawn Cemetery and Sturgis Memorial Gardens

The Sturgis High School Marching Band also performed for the audience.
