(SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP) – One person is dead and three others injured following a three vehicle collision in Cass County's Silver Creek
Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke says 46 year old Robert Baxter Jr. of Dowagiac was driving a GMC Sierra on M-51 and turning west onto M-152 at 5:40 PM Monday. Deputies say Baxter turned in front of a Ford Fusion being driven by 21 year old Cody Hetler of Berrien Springs. Hetler was not able to stop and struck Baxter's vehicle, pushing it into a pick up driven by 46 year old Jeremy Corwin of Decatur.

A passenger in the Baxter vehicle, 21 year old Elizabeth Schoen of Osceola, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene. Baxter and two other passengers, 47 year old Kisha Baxter of Dowagiac and 23 year old Bryan Newman of Osceola, were transported by Pride Care Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital.

Everyone was wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash, except for Elizabeth Schoen.

Assisting at the scene were the Pokagon Tribal Police, the Dowagiac Police and Fire Departments, the Keeler Township Fire Department, the Wayne Township Fire Department, the Sister Lakes Fire Department and the VBEMS Ambulance Service.
