(KENDALLVILLE) – A suspect was arrested shortly after a bank robbery in Kendallville Monday afternoon.
Kendallville Police Chief Lance Waters says his department received a call at 2:30 PM Monday that the 3 Rivers Federal Credit Union on West North Street had been robbed. Police immediately started searching for the suspect, who was last seen heading east in a red Toyota.
Witnesses told police the suspect left the bank after threatening a teller and then receiving cash.
Waters says Indiana State Police noticed the vehicle near the intersection of U.S. 6 and County Road 19 in DeKalb County at 2:45 PM. The vehicle stopped and the driver, 41 year old Lance Lombrana of Fort Wayne, was taken into custody.
Lombrana was lodged in the Noble County Jail on a charge of armed robbery. He is being held without bond. An initial hearing will happen later this week.
