Senate passes stripped down bias crimes bill

INDIANAPOLIS – The hate crimes bill that is not a hate crimes bill at all passed the Indiana Senate yesterday on a vote of 39-10.
Republicans stripped the classifications such as race, religion, and sexual orientation from the original bill which was passed on a committee vote of 9-1.
Republican Aaron Freeman offered the amendment that stripped the bill and said he did so to keep it alive and force the House to take a stand on the issue.
Governor Holcomb has said the stripped down bill is inadequate.
