LAGRANGE – The renewal of the permit for the compost site across from Lakeland Middle School is again raising questions about moving the site.

Gary Christman of the Northeast Indiana Solid Waste Management District told LaGrange County Commissioners Monday the Indiana Department of Environmental Management is seeking more information from the district about the site.

Christman again raised the possibility of moving the compost to the trash convenience and recycling site the district operates at the former county landfill on 300 South.

LaGrange Town Manager Mark Eagleson said that move would be detrimental to the town and its residents due to reduced hours and the extended distance.

The commissioners asked Christman and Eagleson to see what they can work out and report back.
