(INDIANAPOLIS) - Noble, Kosciusko and Whitley Counties will be among 19 Indiana counties that will be getting federal assistance following the severe winter storm which took place between January 5th and 9th. Indiana Governor Mike Pence got word on Tuesday that his appeal to the Federal Emergency Management Agency was granted after an initial request for assistance was denied by the federal agency. The governor's office says the major disaster declaration from FEMA will allow grants to 19 counties and the state can now request assistance for additional counties including Allen, DeKalb, LaGrange and Elkhart Counties. The grant from FEMA will pay for 75 percent of eligible expenses. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security will work with FEMA and local agencies to document allowable expenses.
