LAGRANGE - The judicial system is grabbing the spotlight in this year’s LaGrange County Primary Election.
Republicans have contests for sheriff, prosecutor, and both judgeships to decide.
The race for prosecutor pits former LaGrange County Prosecutor Tim Cain against the man who followed him in the office - current Prosecutor Jeff Wible.
Cain feels his strength as a trial attorney would better serve the victims of crimes.
"When you have a strong trial attorney as prosecutor you can bargain from a position of strength in negotiating plea agreements. Also, defense attorneys know that you are willing to go to court that they best serve their clients by taking the plea agreement."
Wible believes his approach to prosecution gives the public more confidence in the system.
"Of all the cases we've filed since September of 2002, only three have been reversed on appeal. The reason why I think that's important is not so that I can say that I am right, or that our staff has been right. It's so that you can rest assured that the decisions that we're making are right. And if you're resting assured that the decisions we are making are right, then I think you're going to have confidence in the system."
The last time the two men met in a primary Wible won with about two-thirds of the votes.
