(ANGOLA) - If absentee voting is any indication, voter turnout in Steuben County for the Primary next Tuesday maybe down when compared to past mid term election years. There are just a handful of contested races on next Tuesdays ballot. In addition, there are no exciting races such as the Richard Lugar-Richard Mourdock Republican Primary for U.S. Senate two years ago or the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. As of Wednesday afternoon, a total of 235 absentee ballots have been collected. That includes those who have voted early at the Steuben County Courthouse, by mail or by a traveling board. That is an option that can be used by voters who are confined to their home due to illness or injury. Absentee voting at the Steuben County Courthouse will end at 12:00noon on Monday. It will be available this Saturday from 8:00am until 3:00pm. There was a 29 percent voter turnout in Steuben County in the 2012 May Primary while 34 percent turned out for the Primary in both May of 2010 and May 2008.
