(ANGOLA) - The formal dedication and grand opening of the Trine State Recreation Area has been scheduled for Thursday, May 15th at 2:00pm. Indiana Governor Mike Pence and Indiana D.N.R. Director Cameron Clark are both scheduled to be on hand for the ceremony. The Trine S.R.A. has been open to the public since a soft opening last November. The land was known as the Wing Haven Resort from 1948 to 1972. It was Camp Calvary church camp and Oakhill Resort and Conference Center from 1972 until 2006. The property was acquired through the 101 Lakes Land Trust, ACRES Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy and was made possible through a major contribution from Steuben County residents Sheri and Ralph Trine. The 200 acre property has been renovated over the last six years which included reducing the number of buildings from 59 down to 18. The Trine S.R.A. will serve as a satellite operation for Pokagon State Park.
