NWS Calls April Near Normal In FW Area

(UNDATED) - The National Weather Service says April temperatures in the Fort Wayne area were near normal while precipitation was above normal. There were no periods of sustained warmth and several windy days which made it feel like it was colder than it actually was. Forecasters say there were 14 days of below normal temperatures. It was also a windy month as there were 16 days of winds gusting to over 30 miles an hour and seven days when the wind got over 40 miles an hour. The average monthly temperature was 49.8 degrees which is just below normal. The highest temperature was 79 degrees on the 21st. The coldest was 23 on the 16th. There was just under four inches of rain for the month which is about a half inch above normal.
