(STURGIS) – A Traverse City man is facing drug and weapons charges following an incident early Thursday morning.
The Sturgis Police Department says they stopped a vehicle just after 12:30 AM Thursday for an equipment violation in the area of East West and Arden Park Streets. During their investigation, officers noticed the front seat passenger had open intoxicants in his possession.
Officers had the individual get out of the vehicle, and he took off running. After a foot chase, the suspect was captured and taken into custody. At that time, officers located a large amount of crystal meth on the suspect. They also located a pistol the suspect threw away during the chase, which police say was stolen from a location in Sturgis.
The 33 year old suspect is facing multiple charges including carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearms, possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to distribute meth, two counts of resisting and obstructing and open intoxicants. He was also wanted on two warrants out of Grand Traverse County and one from the Sturgis Police.
