Radiothon Tops $20,000

(STURGIS) – The 2014 Radiothon is being called a success.

The fifth annual, 18 hour event to benefit the St. Joseph County United Way started at 6 AM Thursday. Then just after 12 AM Friday, United Way Executive Director Kelly Hostetler announced the grand total raised during the day. ...... {LISTEN}.

In addition, Hostetler shared there were new Celebrity DJ's for the 2014 Radiothon. Raising just short of $2500 during their one hour on the air were Kathy Earl and Tadd Davis of Colon. They snapped the two year winning streak by St. Joseph County Sheriff Brad Balk and Undersheriff Mark Lillywhite.

Eighteen different teams served as Celebrity DJ's to help out the United Way. During the day several prizes were given away to the highest pledges, including tickets to see the Detroit Tigers; Michigan State and Notre Dame football along with a charter fishing trip on Lake Michigan and two tickets to see Reba this fall.

Hostetler says the success of the Radiothon is all based on the hard work of the United Way Staff, the Celebrity DJ's and all of the volunteers who helped to answer telephones and help during the day of the event. She says plans for the 2015 Radiothon will start being worked on in the very near future.
