(ANGOLA) - The recently formed Angola Pilots Club is offering a new scholarship which would allow area residents 16 and older a chance to obtain their private pilot's license. The club says the first ever Juanita Gray Memorial Gift of Flight is one of the first of its kind offered in the area, and is part of their mission to promote aviation activities and connect surrounding communities to the Tri-State Steuben County Municipal Airport.
Interested applicants must complete the required application and essay, take an orientation flight with the club's designated instructor, and if selected, pass the F.A.A. Student pilot medical exam. The scholarship for the program, which must be finished within a year, is estimated at between $5000 and $6000.
In support of the scholarship, the Angola Pilots Club is hosting a hog roast at the Tri-State Steuben County Municipal Airport on August 9th from 10:00am until 2:00pm. For more information on the scholarship and hog roast, contact Sam Adams at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (260) 668-8538. Scholarship applications will be accepted until October 1st.
