Railroad Work To Shut Down Portion Of West Maumee
Saturday Jun 14, 2014 1:09am
Angola, IN

By: Jim Measel

(ANGOLA) - While the West Maumee Streetscape Project is expected to move to the south side of the street during the week of June 23rd, work on the Indiana Northeastern railroad tracks that is expected to take place that same week will further complicate things for Angola drivers. Angola Main Street Coordinator Maria Davis said in a letter to local businesses that West Maumee will be shutdown that week in both directions. She added the city was alerted about the railroad work recently and it was NOT a city of Angola project. Davis told the businesses the city understands this adds an additional burden for them. As for the Streetscape Project, Davis says contractors will be cutting and removing pavement on the south side of Maumee from the Monument to West Street starting the week of the 23rd, weather permitting. There is no completion date for this part of the project as each days work is dependent of the weather. Businesses are being asked to use their rear and side entrances if possible. Work on the north side of West Maumee that is scheduled to start on Tuesday will include top soil being placed into the planters.
