(HAMILTON) - Storms that rumbled through southeast Steuben County and Williams County have left nearly 2,700 Indiana Michigan Power customers in the Hamilton area without power. The utility serves 2,167 customers in Steuben County and all but 22 of the customers lost their power on Monday afternoon.
The storm dumped just over an inch of rain east of Hamilton. There also reports of pea-sized hail and wind gust up to 45 miles an hour.
Heavy rain was reported in other areas. A trained spotter reported 1.8 inches of rain at Sturgis in a one hour period which caused water to cover streets in the vicinity of Cottage and Wilson.
A thunderstorm north of Bryan, Ohio knocked down more than half a dozen utility poles along State Route 15. That storm packed a wind gust of 58 miles per hour according to emergency management.
