Power back on in downtown LaGrange

MERRILLVILLE - The power is back in most of downtown LaGrange.
NIPSCO making considerable progress in restoring electricity locally. Just 169 customers in LaGrange were still without power this morning. More than one-thousand were out at yesterday’s peak.
LaGrange County officials originally announced that the courthouse and county offices would be closed Wednesday. That decision was reversed after power downtown was restored.
Just 7 customers remained in the dark in Wolcottville, and 113 in Howe. There’s still work to do in Shipshewana where 748 customers were still without power.
In Middlebury 501 customers were still out, and in Goshen nearly 49-hundred are still out. Angola still had 216 customers down.
System-wide more than 34-thousand customers are still without power. That’s down from yesterday’s peak of more than 75-thousand.
