SCSD Arrest Indy Murder Suspect

(ANGOLA) - The Steuben County Sheriffs Department arrested a man in Angola on Tuesday night who is a suspect in an Indianapolis murder. Steuben County Jail records indicate 48-year-old Jimmie Monday was taken into custody in the 200 block of East Martha and booked on a warrant out of Marion County at 7:30pm Tuesday night.

WISH-TV reports that Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Detectives were contacted by Steuben County police who said they had someone in custody who admitted to killing a woman in Indianapolis.

Monday is wanted in connection with the death of 48-year-old Barbara McPherter who was found dead inside of an apartment in the 600 block of West Hanna Avenue on Tuesday night.

WISH-TV also reports Indianapolis Police detectives went to Steuben County and arrested Monday on a preliminarily charge of murder. Monday was then taken to the Marion County Jail.

The investigation into the murder is continuing and no further information is available from Indianapolis authorities.
