Thursday Jul 03, 2014 1:46pm

By: Jim Measel

(UNDATED) - It will be a jammed packed weekend of holiday fun around Steuben County. Angola's annual Fourth of July Parade starts at 11:00am Friday morning. Angola Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Christina Koher says the theme this year is "Youth, America's Future". Due to the Streetscape Project, there will be a different parade route this year from Dunham Motor Sales on the south side of Angola. It will travel north on South Wayne to Park Avenue where it will turn left and head to the finish at Darling.

Those in the parade are asked to arrive between 9:30am and 10:30am at Dunham Motor Sales to check in. The parade route will be barricaded to through traffic. Parade participants are being asked to come in from the south by way of South Wayne Street and from the north by way of East Felicity. Registered parade participants will be allowed through the barricades up until 10:30am.

After the parade, there will be activities throughout the afternoon at Commons Park including a hot dog giveaway, a skydiving demonstration, a Jim Barron magic show, live animal demonstrations, music from One Ton Trio and Big Caddy Daddy and the fireworks show at dusk.

Fireworks are also scheduled for Clear Lake Friday night and over Hog Hill in Hamilton, Lake George, Lake James and the Angola Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

Hamilton's July 4th Festival gets underway Friday night with a Fish Fry at the Fish and Game Club at 5:00. There will be a street dance and the crowning of the Tot King and Queen at 8:00 and a Flotilla lighted boat parade at dark. Saturday's parade starts at noon.

Other holiday activities include the Crooked Lake Association's second annual 5K run on Friday morning at 8:30am and the Lake James Flotilla Saturday morning in front of the Potawatomi Inn. The staging begins at 10:00am with the flotilla at 11:00am.
