NWS Confirms 11 Small Twisters From July 1st Storm

(UNDATED) - After damage surveys were conducted, the National Weather Service says there were 11 confirmed small tornadoes that took place during the early Tuesday morning severe storms. Widespread straight-line wind damage also took place in much of northern Indiana and southwest lower Michigan before the storms weakened over northwest Ohio. All of the confirmed twisters were EF-0 or EF-1 tornadoes. They took place in LaGrange, LaPorte, Starke, Marshall, Kosciusko, Whitley and Wabash Counties. The strongest reported tornado was in Starke and Marshall Counties in the Koontz Lake area. It had a peak wind gust of 110 miles an hour. The strong EF-1 twister traveled for almost five miles and had a width of 400 yards.
