Juror Speaks Following Brown Trial
Monday Jul 14, 2014 9:53pm
Centreville, MI

By: Mike Stiles

(CENTREVILLE) – One of the twelve jurors who sat on the Andy Brown trial says it was the evidence that helped her make up her mind.

Renee Towers served as a juror during the three week trial. She spoke exclusively to WBET about how it was the evidence and not so much the testimony that convinced her Brown was guilty in the shooting death of David Locey in October 2013. ...... {LISTEN}.

Brown was found guilty Monday morning of second degree murder and felony firearms. He was originally charged with first degree murder.

Towers say some of the other evidence she found compelling was how people testified that Brown's behavior didn't seem normal in the week prior to Locey's murder. Another factor was the testimony of a witness who said Brown asked how to purchase bullets and if they could be traced back to him.

Towers says if the weapon had been found, it may have made a difference in Brown being found guilty of first degree murder instead of second degree murder. ...... {LISTEN}.

Towers says after the first day of testimony she went home and wasn't sure she could sit in for the entire trial. But with only 12 individuals selected for the jury, Towers says she couldn't leave and had to do her civic duty.

Brown will be sentenced on August 29.
