(ASHLEY) - Three people were injured in a two vehicle head-on crash Wednesday morning on State Road 4 west of Ashley. The Indiana State Police report that according to a preliminary investigation by Trooper David Poe, a 1996 Dodge minivan driven by 35 year old Sheila A. Redman of rural Hudson was traveling west between County Roads 800 West and 900 West just before 7:00am when for some unknown reason it went left of center. The minivan then struck an eastbound 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora head-on. Redman, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time, suffered injuries to her left leg. The driver of the Oldsmobile, 21 year old Kalib L. Jackson of Rome City, suffered a broken right leg. Troopers say Jackson was not wearing a seatbelt. His passenger, 20 year old Benjamin H. Murray of Wawaka, was pinned and had to be freed by firefighters. Murray suffered internal injuries and was flown out by the Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Redman and Jackson were also taken to Parkview Regional.

Assisting Poe at the scene were the Steuben County Sheriff's Department, Ashley Police, firefighters from Hudson and Salem Center, Steuben County E.M.S., the Samaritan Helicopter and Bill's Professional Towing.

Wednesday's accident was the third injury crash in Steuben County over the last four days.
