(CASSOPOLIS) – A missing Cass County man has been found.

Sheriff Joseph Underwood says his department received a call Thursday morning from the White Pigeon Police Department saying 59 year old Charles Rusher had been found in the village.

White Pigeon Police say Rusher had broken into a residence during the nighttime and fell asleep on a couch. The homeowner discovered Rusher when they woke up and called authorities at 8:20 AM.

At this time, the homeowner is not pressing charges. Rusher was not injured, but is extremely disoriented and has no knowledge of how he arrived in White Pigeon.

Rusher walked away from an assisted living home Wednesday at 3 PM. Underwood says his department received several calls about Rusher, including one spotting him near M-216 and U.S. 131, traveling towards Three Rivers. Rusher has ties to Three Rivers and White Pigeon.

Michigan State Police, the Wayne Township Fire Department and several citizens volunteers helped search for Rusher Wednesday afternoon and into the late evening hours.

Rusher is being taken back to Cass County to a location to be determined by Michiana Guardianship, the court ordered agency that has legal guardianship of Rusher.
