Three 2013 Records Broken During Livestock Auction

(CROOKED LAKE) - Three steer records from 2013 were broken on Friday during the annual livestock auction at the Steuben County 4-H Fair.

Hannah Buell broke her own record price of $4,600 for Dairy Steers as her Grand Champion sold for $6,000.

Caylee Bachelor also broke a record she set last year in Started Calves as her Reserve Grand Champion sold for $7,200. That broke the old record by $2,200.

The record for Dairy Feeder Steers was broken twice. The Grand Champion Steer owned by Skylar Clingan sold for $3,000 which broke Hannah Word's record price. Word later reclaimed the record when her Holstein Steer sold for $3,200.

As for the other top selling animals on Friday---

* Lane Waite had the top price for sheep as his cross wether sold for $775.

* Hunter Allen's turkey sold for $400

* Holly Zimmerman's market duck sold for $275

* The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Broilers/Roasters showed by Ella Heifner and Joel Knox both sold for $325.

* Makailah Thompson's Laying Hen sold for $300.

* Reece Hunt's Reserve Grand Champion market goose went for $325 while his Grand Champion goat wether sold for $1,000.

* Stone Groosbeck's Beef Feeder Steer sold for $1,600

* Daniel Calderwood's Grand Champion Beef Steer sold for $4,400

* Francesca Clifton's Grand Champion in Goat Milk and Cheese went for $200

* Cameron Penick's Swine Grand Champion sold for $1,550.

* Tana Willibey's Grand Champion Started Calf sold for $4,600.

* Brook Creager's Grand Champion Rabbit sold for $200.

The total take from the auction was $208,805.
