(ANGOLA) - Angola Police Chief Stu Hamblen and Steuben County Prosecutor Mike Hess have come out in support of Steuben County Sheriff Tim Troyer's attempts to have the Sheriff Department take over the County 911 Center. Hamblen says in a statement released on Friday that the County Commissioners should "make the right decision" and turn over county communications to the Sheriffs Office. Troyer claimed in a letter posted on his departments web site that Indiana Data and Communications System standards were not being met and that information was being viewed by unauthorized people. Hamblen serves on the County's IDACS Board and he says the information is for law enforcement personnel and certified IDACS operators only. Hess also released a written statement on Friday in which he said he was concerned with the current state of the Steuben County Communications Division. Hess went on to say that he believes "the Sheriffs Department is in the best position to maintain and control the day-to-day operations of such critical information and communications".
