(COLDWATER) – Eric Leutheuser won his home county, and that was enough to win the election.
Leutheuser, a Hillsdale County automotive dealer, won his home county and defeated Tim Hart Haberl for the Republican nomination to run for the 58th District seat in the Michigan House of Representatives this fall.
Habrel won Branch County, where he resides, with 1981 votes while Leutheuser had 879 votes. With all 25 precincts reporting in Hillsdale County, Leutheuser received 2374 votes to give him 3253 total votes. Haberl received 360 votes in Hillsdale County, giving him a total of 2341.
Brad Benzing finished in third place overall in the Republican race, followed by Jeff Jacques, Hal Nottingham, Rochelle Ray and Steven Besson.
Leutheuser will face Democrat Amy Thomas in the November General Election. Thomas ran unopposed for her parties' nomination.
