(LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP) – The pilot of an ultralight aircraft walked away without any injuries after having to put it down Wednesday night.
Three Rivers Police and Fire Department personnel say they were called to the Dr. Haines Municipal Airport just east of Three Rivers around 8:30 PM Wednesday.
They say the pilot was approaching the airport when he started to lose altitude and put the aircraft down in a wooded area. The pilot was taken to Three Rivers Health where he was evaluated.
Michigan State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration were called in to process the scene to see if they can determine what happened.
