(STURGIS) – Sturgis City Manager Mike Hughes received high marks during his annual evaluation.
Following their regular meeting Wednesday night, the Sturgis City Commission went into closed session to conduct Hughes' evaluation. Following the closed session, the Commission announced that Hughes received a score of 4.65 out of a possible 5 on his review.
Mayor Ken Malone says he and the rest of the Commission have high praise for the work Hughes has been and continues to do for Sturgis.
He says Hughes leads by example and proves to the City Commission continuousely the great level of dedication he has to this community.
Malone says Hughes continues to be deeply involved in the community and spends a great deal of his professional and personal time reaching out to the citizens.
Malone says the evaluation process also offers the Commission the opportunity to have a discussion with Hughes about what their expectations and goals are and suggest opportunities for improving the working relationship.
The Commission voted unanimously to give Hughes a one percent pay increase retroactive to the beginning of his contract year.
