(ANGOLA) - The Angola City Council approved a request Tuesday night to replace a computer system that Water Superintendent Tom Selman says is falling apart. The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System was put in back in 1996 at the water department.
Selman ran down a number of computer issues for the Council. He is hoping Donahue and Herceg of South Bend can put together a proposal so work on the $53,000 project can start by the end of the year.
In other business, Clerk-Treasurer Deb Twitchell said the city's assessed valuation went up for the first time in three years. She said it went up 4.7 percent to just over $407 million. That means the tax rate will be less than where it's at now. The final rate won't be known until sometime next year.
