(ANGOLA) - The Steuben County Council started work Wednesday morning on the county's proposed 2015 budget. The proposed general fund budget came out to about $11.3 million. County Auditor Kim Koomler says the Council is looking to trim about $1.3 million. The Council will go over the various line items on Wednesday, Thursday and perhaps on Friday.
Among the decisions that will have to be made will be a request from the three judges to hire a part-time employee who would serve all three courts.
Pam Feller from the Probation Department also told the Council last week that they could not pay workers out of user fee funds anymore and that salaries should come out of the county general fund.
