(ANGOLA) - There has been another delay in the special exception request concerning a proposed 4,800 hog Confined Animal Feeding Operation near 600 West and 200 North. It is still scheduled to come before the Steuben County Plan Commission on April 2nd but it is now scheduled to be taken up by the Steuben County Board of Zoning Appeals on April 21st. A spokesperson for the Steuben County Plan Office said the C.A.F.O. matter was pushed back two weeks for the B.Z.A. because an attorney for the remonstrators was not going to be available for the meeting that was scheduled for April 7th. Spring Break was also a factor in the B.Z.A. meeting being re-scheduled for the 21st. The matter was originally scheduled to come before the Plan Commission and the B.Z.A. in March but the petitioners requested a one month delay. Both meetings in April will be held in the Dale Hughes Auditorium at the Steuben County Community Center. The B.Z.A. meeting on April 21st will start at 6:00pm, one hour earlier than normal since the Community Center closes at 10:00pm and everyone has to be out by that time. Written comments from the public are being accepted at the Steuben County Plan Office. No public comments will be taken during the Plan Commission meeting because it is a special exception request but comments from the audience will be taken during the B.Z.A. meeting.
