(ANGOLA) - The Angola City Council on Monday night will be asked to consider a request from Republic Services to extend their contract with the city for one year and to increase costs by 1.12 percent. The extension would start on July 1st if the Council approves. In a letter to Angola Mayor Dick Hickman, Republic Services Manager James Smith says they have had to absorb the rising costs of equipment, insurance and fuel since July of 2011 and they can no longer do that. The rate increase would be effective on May 1st for the collection of garbage and recyclable materials.
