Gschwend will begin her duties in Steuben County on March 31st with a Field training program and she is expected to attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in July. Troyer has also announced the promotion of three Sheriffs Office employees following approval by the Merit Board. Adam Miller has been promoted to Patrol Sergeant. Miller is currently patrolling Steuben County with his K9 partner Hasko. Deputy M.J. Irwin has been promoted to Patrol Corporal while Alex Harris has been promoted to the position of Corporal in the Steuben County Jail. Gschwend is a replacement for Sgt.
