(UNDATED) - The weather is expected to get rather soggy over the next couple of days. The National Weather Service says a strong low pressure system will move into the region this week, bringing with it heavy rain and possibly a few thunderstorms.
Rain should be over the entire area by Wednesday night. Rainfall amounts through Friday are expected to range from one inch in southern Michigan to around three inches in parts of Central Indiana.
Cooler air will filter in behind the system, causing rain to change over to snow late Friday but little to no accumulation is anticipated.
Forecasters say significant river flooding could take place as well as flooding of low lying areas if the heavy rain develops as expected.
