(STURGIS) – Sturgis City officials need to make a correction on some information they released last week.
City Clerk Ken Rhodes says applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the City Commission to represent Precinct 3.
Originally Rhodes says the City wanted to have the applications due by 12 PM on April 18. However, since that is Good Friday, City offices will not be open, so instead, applications will now be due by 12 PM on Thursday April 17.
The vacancy representing Precinct Three happened when City Commissioner Mike Wilson announced his resignation due to a move out of the precinct.
Anyone interested in filling this position must ensure they are a registered voter in the Third Precinct.
They must provide their name, address, phone number along with employer, their employer's address and phone number. Applicants will also have to provide a short essay expressing their reasons for seeking appointment to the City Commission.
All applicants need to provide a resume, any special qualifications, references and any potential conflicts of interest in serving on the City Commission.
Completed applications should be forwarded to the City Clerk, 130 North Nottawa Street. Interviews will be held during a work session on Wednesday, April 23 with the intent to make an appointment at the City Commission's regular meeting that same evening. If you have any questions, you can contact Rhodes by calling 659-7229.
