Miriam Brokaw Dies At 103, Services Set For Friday

(ANGOLA) - A long time musician and music teacher in Angola has passed away. Miriam Louise Brokaw died on Tuesday at the age of 103. Many people in the Angola area were taught the joy of music by her. According to an obituary posted on the web site for the Weicht Funeral Home, Brokaw played cello in what developed into the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and was the last surviving founding member of the Philharmonic. She was also the last charter member of the Frances Elliott Clark Music Club and was the first recipient of the Arts and Humanities Award for Steuben County. Services for Miriam Brokaw will be at 11:00am Friday morning at the Angola Church of Christ with Pastor Jim Hulbert officiating. Burial will be in the Circle Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday evening at the Angola Church of Christ and from 10:00am until 11:00am Friday morning prior to the service at the Church. Memorials may be made to the Angola Christian Church or to the Lake James Christian Assembly.
