(CONSTANTINE) – Voters in the Constantine School District said Yes to an operating millage request on Tuesday.
Voters in the District, which includes both St. Joseph and Cass Counties, approved the millage request with a total of 612 Yes votes to 542 No votes. In St. Joseph County, the total was 365 Yes to 278 No votes. In Cass County, there were 247 Yes votes to 264 No votes.
The proposal was asking to restore Constantine Schools’ operating millage to the original statutory maximum rate of 18 mills through 2032. The proposal was also asking for a 2.5 mill cushion, that would allow the District to maintain the full 18 mills over the life of the proposal, as long as the operating millage does not reduce more than 2.5 mills.
The millage only applies to non-homestead properties. That includes businesses, second homes, investment properties and rental properties.
