BATTLE CREEK – It's a return trip to the Division 4 State Finals for the defending champion and No. 1 ranked Mendon Hornets after they beat No. 4 Southfield Christian 3-2 (27-25, 17-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-13). Anna Smith had 36 kills and 12 digs. Taylor Heitkamp added 13 kills and 4 digs while Gracie Russell had 58 assists and 8 digs. Mendon will take on No. 5 Leland in Saturday's finals, after Leland beat No. 10 Rudyard 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-15).

They’ll face either Pontiac Notre Dame Prep or Lake Odessa Lakewood in the finals.

Lakeland High School has changed the time of tomorrow’s boys basketball Blue-Red scrimmage. It will start at 7 p-m in the main gym instead of the previously published 6 pm.

Lakeland held its fall sports awards program this week.
