On a day when nearly every sporting event was cancelled, the Indiana High School Athletic Association said the boys basketball tournament and the gymnastics state finals will go on.

However only essential personnel and immediate family of team members will be allowed at the tournament. Fans who already bought tickets will receive refunds where they purchased them. Northridge High Schools said anyone who purchased a ticket needs to bring them to the Northridge High School athletic office in order to receive the refund.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced Thursday afternoon that the winter sports postseason events have been suspended immediately and indefinitely. That includes the girls gymnastics state finals, the ice hockey semi-finals and finals and the boys swimming and diving finals that were all scheduled for this weekend.

The girls basketball Regional championships and the boys basketball District championships are suspended.

The Three Rivers and Schoolcraft girls basketball teams were supposed to play Thursday night for Regional championships. The Centreville, Colon, Constantine, Coldwater and Schoolcraft boys basketball teams were all scheduled to play for District titles on Friday.

The NCAA canceled all winter and spring championship events...a move that ended March Madness and left some coaches of spring sports wondering why events in June were already being axed by the association.

Nearly every professional sports league canceled scheduled events including pro basketball, major and minor league baseball and hockey.


Lakeland High School’s Bailey Hartsough announced on Twitter she has committed to Western Carolina University. Hartsough was named NECC all-conference in basketball this year.
