Storms bring down trees, power lines in Lagrange

LAGRANGE – A strong thunderstorm damaged power lines and trees in Lagrange Tuesday evening.

LaGrange County dispatch said lines and limbs came down in the area of Nursery and Walnut Streets. Nursery Street was still closed by barricades at State Road 9 early this morning.

Other lines came down on Canal at Maple, and on County Road 150 North near 080 East.

We recorded a wind gust of 37 miles per hour at 8:40 p-m as the storm hit.

More than an inch of rain fell in less than 30 minutes.

Large hail fell in St. Joseph and LaPorte Counties in Indiana.

The National Weather Service says there is an isolated risk of strong to severe storms across the area again this evening.
