CONSTANTINE – Fire destroyed a Constantine house Monday morning.

Constantine Fire Chief Mike Haydon says at 4:41 AM his department was called to a fire in the 100 block of East Third Street. Crews arrived and found flames coming from the windows and doors on the east side of the structure.

The White Pigeon and Fabius-Park Fire Departments were called in to help battle the blaze, which was knocked down in 25 minutes. Haydon says crews remained on scene for approximately four hours putting out hot spots. He says the type of construction and remodeling over the years made it difficult to reach some of the hot spots.

Haydon says it appears the fire started in the area of a bathroom and laundry area on the first floor. The owner was home at the time of the fire, which was reported by neighbors who saw flames coming from the dwelling. No injuries were reported.

The house and contents are considered a total loss.
