(CENTREVILLE) – Glen Oaks Community College has announced that men's head basketball coach David Victor is stepping down to pursue other opportunities.

In a media release, Victor thanked Glen Oaks President Dr. David Devier, Athletic Director Matt Brawley, former AD Courtney Ivan and all of his current and former players over the last six seasons for giving him the opportunity to coach the sport he loves.

Victor says Glen Oaks has always held a special place his his heart, since his father Richard was the head men's basketball coach in the early 1990's. Victor says he has made lifelong connections and relationships with his players and he hopes he has represented the program to the best of his ability.

Victor says leaving, especially in the middle of a season, was not an easy decision to make. However, he had an opportunity that ultimately was best for him and his family, and he needed to take on that new challenge.

Victor will be the new Sports Information Director at Cleary University in Howell, Michigan. Cleary is an NAIA school in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Victor's last game as head coach was February 27. He also is an admissions clerk at the college, and his last day in that position will be March 5.

Assistant Coach Mike Hunter will take over as interim coach for the remainder of the 2021 season
