(STURGIS) – The City of Sturgis will be working with a new organization to help get vehicles.

Wednesday night, the City Commission was presented with a proposal by the Fleet Management Committee to enter into an agreement with Enterprise to lease vehicles for the City’s fleet. Previously, the City has used MI Fleet to purchase vehicles, but the availability of vehicles through that program has decreased.

City Controller Holly Keyser shares why the City is recommending the agreement with Enterprise. ...... {LISTEN}.

Tom Sikorski, who is a member of the Fleet Management Committee, says the agreement with Enterprise also allows the City to look at Big 3 autos for the City fleet, which helps in terms of getting service done. ...... {LISTEN}.

As part of the agreement, Sturgis would not be using Enterprise for any maintenance work on the automobiles. The City would find dealers to do the work.

Keyser did say if after a year the City didn’t want to continue with the Enterprise agreement, they could get out of it without any problems.

The City voted unanimously to enter into the agreement with Enterprise. Keyser says they would be looking to replace eight vehicles initially in the City’s fleet.
