(CENTREVILLE) - Centreville Public Schools is excited to announce the start of Series 2 of their 2023 Bond Construction Projects.

The new series will start on March 2, and will include a multi-purpose addition and air conditioning at the Jr/Sr High School.

Centreville Superintendent Chad Brady says the start of this work will impact key pieces of the school day operations and logistics related to parking along with student drop off and pick up. He says a significant area of the JR/Sr High School parking lot will not be accessible starting March 2 through the end of the school year.

Families dropping off and picking up students at the JR/Sr High School on the east side are asked to use the curbside lane only. That traffic will loop around and back out to Nottawa Street, not around the gym to King Street. Students must be ready to exit the vehicle quickly to avoid even longer backups.

Student parking will be located in the current staff parking lot. Staff parking is being moved to the bus parking lot.

To access the high school ball fields, drivers will need to use the AG drive off King Street. Prior to baseball/softball season, the drive will be enhanced to support the increased use.

Although parking will be eliminated in a highly used area during track meets, Centreville will still host their scheduled home track events.

Graduation will take place as scheduled, on Thursday May 21 in the High School Gym.

Brady says before the start of the 2026-2027 school year the outside work will be completed, including a newly designed parking lot. The new multi-purpose addition to accommodate wrestling and other athletics is scheduled to open in December 2026.

Brady says although these short-term changes are inconvenient, they are temporary. He says the community's patience and attention to safety are greatly appreciated.
