(UNDATED) - Travel through portions of Branch County could take a little longer starting next week.
Two major road construction projects are set to begin on Monday, July 13.
The Michigan Department of Transportation along with contractor Causie Contracting Inc., will start a $1.9 million infrastructure investment project. Crews will be repairing approximately 15.4 miles of I-69 from the Michigan-Indiana State Line to East Central Road near Kinderhook Township.
The project will include concrete repairs, resealing concrete joints and applying chip and fog seals to the shoulder. The work will restrict traffic to single lane closures and should run through mid-October.
The other project will be in Union City. Excell Paving Plus will completely rebuild North Broadway Street from the cemetery to the Broadway Street Bridge.
The project will also include replacing the downtown concrete parking areas. Motorists will face temporary road closures and traffic alterations starting in the downtown block. Local businesses will remain open with uninterrupted sidewalk, surrounding street, and nearby parking access for customers.
