(STURGIS) - Sturgis City Commissioner Jeff Mullins shared his concerns over the City Manager situation.

During last week's meeting, the City Commission approved the hiring of Douglas Terry as Interim City Manager for possibly up to one year, or until a new City Manager is hired.

During the Commissioner and Staff Comments portion of the meeting, Mullins voiced how this process is going to be a cost to the City

Mullins says paying the salary for the Interim City Manager who will be working 40 hours a week for a year will cost the City just over $170,000. Sturgis will also by paying Andrew Kuk's salary for a year as part of his separation agreement. In addition, Mullins says Sturgis will have to hire a search firm to help them find a new City Manager. That comes to around $300,000 of tax payer money being spent. (LISTEN ABOVE)

Mullins says it's sad and unfortunate that the City is going through this situation.

Andrew Kuk is stepping down as Sturgis City Manager July 25.
