Make a Grandparent's Day Card

LaGrange County Public Library- All Branches

Cards made by kids will brighten the day of residents of local nursing homes. Stop in to any branch from August 4 through September 3 and your child can create a unique card. We'll make sure they get to the local nursing homes and in the hands of senior citizens. Open to all children.

Tuesdays, August 5 through October 7 at 3:00 p.m.

Topeka Branch

Preschoolers will learn about numbers over the next several weeks of Story Time. The books, crafts and songs will be centered around counting. Story Time is open to children age one and up.



Sidewalk Art

Shipshewana Branch

Children will create art outdoors where everyone can see it! Open to elementary age children.



Movie: God’s Not Dead

Tuesday, August 5 at 6:00 p.m.

The surprise hit of last spring, God’s Not Dead, tells the story of a devoutly Christian college freshman who’s challenged by his atheist philosophy professor to prove the existence of God. Loved by audiences, despised by movie critics; come see this controversial film for yourself. The film is rated PG. Popcorn will be provided. You may bring your own drink in a covered container. Open to adults.

LaGrange County Public Library

Volunteers are available in the Genealogy Department at regular times to assist the public with family history questions and challenges. Volunteers from the LaGrange County Genealogical Society are available every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Volunteers from the LaGrange County DAR are available on the second Tuesday of each month from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Open to adults.



Sewing Class

Hosted by the Purdue Extension Office, parents and adults who work with children will learn the benefits of block play. Ann Fremion will also share the seven developmental stages of playing with blocks. Open to adults only.

Craft: Double Ended Crochet

Tuesday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m.

LaGrange County Public Library

Materials needed: Bring two skeins of yarn in different colors, but of the same weight.

Needleworker Carla Whitlock will teach you how to crochet using a double ended crochet hook. Come learn this intriguing technique! Students must already know the basic crochet stitches. Carla will bring double-ended crochet hooks for everyone to use, but each student needs to bring two skeins of yarn from home. Carla suggests bringing acrylic yarn in two different colors, but of the same weight, either worsted or baby weight.
